How Were Horoscopes Created?
Astrology and horoscopes were created about a thousands years ago by the ancient Greeks.
The Greeks believed that the position of the planets and the of the sun could have an effect on an individuals life and on what events could occur in their future and that it could be predicted according to their location.
In about 500 BC, a philosopher by the name of Plato would use astrology and he would studied it further. Through these studies astrology was kept and has continued to be wide spread through out the ages. However, horoscopes and astrology would take a downturn when an astronomer by the name of Galileo Galilei become the first to use a telescope in the 1500’s. As time however; went by astronomy would once again become popular after it was able to flourish in Egypt around the year of 300BC. During the Middle ages, practicing astrology was hidden because the Christian church begin to be the predominent leading voices in the new world. It was not until the year 1600 when William Lilly an astrologer would rename astrology, Christian Astrology, he did this so he was able to avoid the wrath of the Christian Church and was able to make it more appropriate. Renaming astrology and horoscopes was instrumental in popularizing of horoscopes that is still used today.
Horoscopes and astrology is one of the most earliest known philosophies that is still used in today’s world. Some people estimate astrology and horoscopes to be at least 3,000 years old however, recent studies of esoteric beliefs tend to place this further back into clouded past of human histories. Ancient times, and until today astrology was used to predict what will occur in countries, personal course of actions, economic trends, and the outcome of wars.
Farmers around the world who are known for crops, will plant in spring, then they will harvest these crops in the fall. However, some regions there tends to be a differentiation between seasons. Because different constellations can be visible during different times of the year, we can use these constellations to determine what month we are in
An example, would be Scorpius, which is only noticeable in the northern hemisphere’s evening sky during summer. Certain historians believe that several myths, which can be associated with constellations were created in order to help farmers to remember them. For example, when the farmers were to see specific constellations, the farmers would know it was time for them to either plant or reap. Over time the reliance on the sky and daily horoscopes would become a heavy part in several different cultures. Several nomadic tribes would follow the skies at night on order to move from one location to another location. Virgo horoscopes would be one example of a zodiac sign.
Astrology is a Greek term, which means the “Science of the Starrs.” Its was used by Chaldeans who lived in Babylon in 3000 BC. People in Asia and China would later become interested and they began to practice astrology. It is believed that they are the first to observe the positions of the sun is influenced by the season and the planting cycles of its agricultural practice.
